On Wednesday 24th July 2024, Donate For Defib WsM Project, Josh Bell Project Lead, Christina Chell Deputy Project Lead and Peter Elston Lead Corporate Ambassador & Project Official Photographer & Project Ideas had the pleasure of meeting the team from Heartbeattrustuk who provides defibrillator and cabinets that the team order for venues that have raised funds for a public accessible defibrillator.

The Heartbeattrustuk, team who visited consisted of Doug & Henry who are based in Swansea and came to meet the Donate For Defib WsM Project team, this was the first meeting in Weston super Mare by them.

It was great to also see, Lisa Warrington, Defibrillator Coordinator from Great Western Air Ambulance Charity who during the meeting discussed updates, new developments and changes from Great Western Air Ambulance Charity. This involved the team being shown the new Defibrillator Mapping Tool, more information on this soon.

The meeting was also to discuss the ongoing success of the Donate For Defib WsM Project which is heading for its 1st year anniversary next month. We discussed ongoing and new developments, items and updates both from Great Western Air Ambulance Charity and the Heartbeattrustuk and to celebrate and acknowledge the support given to the Donate For Defib WsM Project by the local community.

Maya our Defib Dog Mascot also made an appearance and came along to meet Lisa and the Heartbeattrustuk members and attended with Lucy her PA and Lead Mascot Ambassador for the Donate For Defib WsM Project.

Malcolm from M De C B Medical, who is also our Clinical Support Ambassador joined us for the meeting to discuss the elements around training and enhancing clinical knowledge and practice! This is fundamental in our expansion across our local community and enhances CPR / Defibrillator Awareness. Further discussions relating to the materials provided by Heartbeattrustuk will be underway in the next few days, to develop a strategy moving forward in relation to raising further awareness through using a variety of materials and resources. This is absolutely paramount in providing high-quality training to our local community, along with bringing the key message across relating to the Chain of Survival.

Josh from JD3DP also attended with his mum to be presented with his Thank You / Appreciation Certificate from the Donate For Defib WsM Project along with his award for Arts & Culture. We would like to thank him for all the support he has given the project by donating his 3D items to enable these to be sold at events to help raise funds for further defibrillators.

Two members of the Weston-super-Mare Rotary & Weston Rotary Dog Day, President Helen and George also came to meet both the Heartbeattrustuk team and Lisa as the Rotary Club had funded the Defibrillator at Revo Kitchen.

Following lunch, the Donate For Defib WsM Project, Lisa and the Heartbeattrustuk team visited the Weston super Mare Golf Club to see where the defibrillators that the club had raised funds for had been placed and briefly met the club Chairman John Codd, who is a great support of our project.

It was lovely to meet the Heartbeattrustuk team and the Donate For Defib WsM Project looks forward to visiting them soon in their home town of Swansea.

Also a big thank you to Revo Kitchen and their staff for enabling the meeting to be held at Revo at short notice and for all their continued efforts and support!
