Graham & Josh's Story

Josh and Professor Graham Stuart first met when Josh was only 6 weeks old and Josh was very unwell at Bristol Children’s Hospital needing urgent Cardiac Surgery.

Josh had a Coarctation of Aorta, and needed urgent treatments, from that point on Graham has cared for Josh ever since and is a true inspiration to Josh now and it just shows the kindness and care that can be shown by so many.

Graham's Role

Professor Graham Stuart is a former Consultant Cardiologist with a clinical interest in cardiac electrophysiology in children and adults with congenital heart disease.

He is our Project Clinical Lead Ambassador, and also was Josh’s former Consultant Cardiologist so there is a key link within their story. Professor Graham Stuart works with us to advice us on clinical information, latest research and supports the project by influencing our work further within a clinical context.

A Personal Story From Elizabeth (Josh's Mum) About Graham's Support

"Having Graham on the Donate For Defib Weston-super-Mare Project is so paramount and not only being a former Consultant Cardiologist but also someone who saved my son's life is truly inspirational to us all. We as a family will be forever grateful for Graham's kindness that he showed us, right from the first day we met him when Josh was so young by being so calm, kind and reassuring to now being our Project Clinical Lead Ambassadors"

A Clinical Message From Graham

“I am delighted to support the excellent work of Donate for Defib WsM Project. There is absolutely no doubt early cardioversion can be lifesaving in patients experiencing a cardiac arrest. Moreover, the earlier it takes place the better the outcome. The best way to achieve this is to increase the availability of publicly accessible defibrillators in their community. This is an incredibly important project!!”
