Donate for Defib Project Honoured with the Mayor’s Award
We are incredibly proud that the Donate for Defib WsM Project received the Mayor’s Award today.
The award belongs to every past and present team member, supporter and volunteer who has been part of our journey
Behind every defibrillator installed and every life that may be saved is a community of people who have given their time, energy and support to help make a real difference.
Over the past three years, the project has grown through an extraordinary collective effort, with countless hours of hard work, dedication and kindness contributing to its success.
We would not be where we are today without the continued support of everyone who has believed in our mission.
While we are delighted to receive this award, we see it as a shared achievement — one that reflects the strength of our community and the power of people coming together to make a difference.
This award belongs to all of us, and we are incredibly grateful to share this special milestone with you.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Donate for Defib WsM Project.
Support From Rev. Peter Ashman
Today we would like to begin a special series of thank you’s and photographs from our Mayor’s Awards Evening on Wednesday
Our first photo features Josh, our Project Lead, alongside Chantelle and Reverend Peter Ashman, Rector at St John’s Church, who was also the Mayor’s Chaplain for the evening.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Peter for his ongoing support of Donate For Defib. Josh and Chantelle both work alongside Peter at Weston-super-Mare Crematorium, where they occasionally support him during funeral services held in the chapel.
Peter is always eager to hear about the amazing things happening within our community and regularly shares the work of Donate For Defib with members of his congregation.
On 10th May, during a day where we experienced multiple defibrillator call outs, Peter himself needed to access one of our defibrillators as a precaution. Thankfully it was returned unused the very same day, and Peter shared this message with us:
“We had to use the one at St John’s as a precaution. Returned unused the same day. Thank you very much for this wonderful service.”
Chantelle is also one of the newest members of our team, supporting us with meeting administration, networking, and helping strengthen the structure of the project as we continue to grow for the future.
Thank you so much to everyone for your ongoing support, and a special thank you to Peter Elston, our Corporate Lead Ambassador and professional photographer, for capturing this lovely photo
Congratulations to all the award winners on the evening, everyone has made a fantastic effort to our community for Weston-super-Mare!
Support From Mayor & The Community
Donate for Defib WSM was pleased to attend the Civic Service held at the Parish Church of St John the Baptist on Wednesday 27 May 2026.
We were honoured to accept a Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community from Mayor/Councillor Mr Martin Williams The Mayor of Weston-super-Mare.
Donate For Defib WsM Project was formed in 2023 to provide much-needed defibrillators across our town and to raise awareness of their importance within the community.
Led by Josh Bell and supported by our amazing volunteers, the project continues to go from strength to strength, helping ensure Weston-super-Mare is becoming a truly defib-friendly place to live and visit.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support us on this journey.
Please follow us on Facebook and across our other social media platforms to keep up with our latest news and community projects.

Achievements For Our Legacy Programme!
We are incredibly proud and grateful that the Donate for Defib Project received the Mayor’s Award last week.
This recognition means so much to us and acknowledges not only the work of the project but also our Defib Legacy in Memory Programme.
The award truly belongs to every past and present team member, supporter, family member, and volunteer who has helped shape the project into what it is today. Behind every defibrillator installed and every life that may be saved are people who have generously given their time, energy, compassion, and support to make a real difference in our community.
Over the last three years, an enormous amount of love, care, dedication, and hard work has gone into this project, and we simply could not have achieved any of it without you.
This award is not ours alone—it is a recognition that we proudly share with every person who has been part of this journey.
Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us create a lasting legacy that continues to save lives. ![]()
