A Heartfelt Step Forward: Donate For Defib W-s-M Meets with Cllr Mike Bell to Boost Community Safety
Weston-super-Mare, 1st May 2025 β A landmark meeting took place today between the Donate For Defib Weston-super-Mare Project and Cllr Mike Bell, Leader of North Somerset Council, marking a major stride toward enhancing life-saving support in the community.
The meeting, held on Thursday 1st May, was hailed as incredibly productive and inspiring by the Donate For Defib team, with a strong shared vision to increase public access to defibrillators across North Somerset.
Among the key topics discussed were ambitious plans to expand defibrillator provision in public spaces, particularly in and around listed buildings, council-owned facilities, and even onboard transport vehicles. The conversation also covered the importance of improving public awareness and emergency training, with an exciting proposal to ensure all North Somerset Council staff are trained in CPR and Defib Awareness.
Most exciting of all, Cllr Bell voiced clear support for exploring prospective funding opportunities to further equip the community with this vital emergency equipment. The positive engagement and openness to long-term solutions reflect a strong partnership forming between the council and this award-winning local initiative.
