We are proud to shine a spotlight on Sarah Tester, one of our Clinical Advisors whose dedication, compassion, and expertise are making a real difference through her work with Donate For Defib Weston-super-Mare – a project dedicated to creating awareness about the importance of defibrillators and raising funds to put further defibrillators out within the local community. Sarah, who has more than 25 years of experience in the Ambulance Service and NHS, joined the project in February 2024 after being deeply moved by a tragic incident where a life was lost because a nearby defibrillator was inaccessible. “That moment really struck me; I never wanted another family in our community to go through such a loss when something so simple could change the outcome,” Sarah explains.
Since then, Sarah has played a vital role in helping the project grow from just five available defibrillators in the town to more than 85 across schools, pubs, churches, businesses, and community spaces. The team also ensures that every device is properly maintained, registered, and ready to save lives. Sarah is especially passionate about education, delivering CPR and defibrillator training to hundreds of people at local community events such as Restart A Heart Day and outreach sessions like the Priory Community School Breakfast, where more than 100 people were trained in just four hours.
